The consequences of WWI in America

Community War I was considered the war to end almost all wars.  Not only did it change overseas relationships and policies throughout the world, it also brought many changes to the home-based level of American government and individuals as well.  Through the Selective Service Take action, foreign and domestic policies, and shifting ideas relating to nativism and Americanism, World War We made Us citizens question their very own government, democracy, and self-image. �

In 1917, the us President, Woodrow Wilson, been successful in completing the Picky Service Work, which produced way for the federal government to choose which usually male individuals were provided for the frontlines based on age group and other redemption qualities.  In response to a letter inquiring what exactly the " picky draft” entailed, President Wilson explained: The principle of the selective draft, in short, features at its cardiovascular system this idea, that there is a universal accountability to serve and that a public authority should choose those after whom the obligation of armed forces service shall rest, and in addition in a sense select those who shall do the remaining portion of the nations function... to create the impression of universal assistance in the Military and from it... (Wilson) Pat defended the Selective Services Act by arguing that some males are better where they are and there are various ways to play a role in society plus the war hard work other than simply by combat (Wilson).  Conversely, Senator Robert LaFollette opposed the concept of the draft because he saw it as " first the end of your constitutional government” by taking away the freewill of American people and driving them to experience the killing of others when they did not support the cause nor desire (LaFollette).  Senator LaFollette believed " no conflict [could] always be successfully charged that [did not really have] the natural support with the men whom [did] the fighting” and argued the Selective Assistance Act should have been put to an exhortatory vote by the American people since it was their sons...
